Why blog?

Why make a blog at all?

After all, it's more work than just using some other social media like Twitter, Bluesky, or LinkedIn. Conversely, you also can't capture all the formatting and writing details that a manuscript on arXiv may. But, I think there's a charm to blog posts that social media or LaTeX documents often fail to capture. It's a nice middle ground that doesn't sacrifice proper equation rendering or code blocks, all while allowing me to maintain a more casual and non-professional tone. It also helps that unlike social media, I can use this blog as a space to just exert all of my thoughts in a more structured manner, without consideration of likes or comments. And while yes, a blog is of course significantly more difficult to maintain compared to a Twitter account (Next.js and all that), but that's what Codex and Claude Code are for! (/hj)

Another motivation for blogging was that I originally tried writing some of these thoughts in a diary, but soon realized it was basically impossible for me to follow a set schedule where I needed to write every day (because I'm lazy). A blog allows me to post at my own pace, without having to worry about "upload frequency."

So, expect me to post something here if I think of something interesting or something I want to talk about. How often that will be, I have no idea. Maybe a week, maybe an year. Don't expect much of me. Shoo.
